Hello,

I've just started using myBloggie. And I really like it. It offers all the functions that I need. And was fairly simple to install and use. Thank you for sharing it!

Now I want to start custimization. Using my own colors, image's.. Removing the calandre, or anything else.

Could u please give me some information on how to edit it? I'm fairly good with html.. but I'm a newbie to php, so I don't have the slightest idea to start on this.

All help is appreciated.
The pages I would like to change are the mainpage (the blog), and the login page, the Control Panel I don't care that much about right now.

Thanks very much
Michiel

Well, if you know HTML... that is good.

1) Create another new folder under templates folder
2) Name it to whater you want
3) Copy all the dawnlight files to that folder
4) change the config.php template setting to the new folder name
5) Edit the .tpl & .css folder (which is html based) accordingly
6) Load you blog to see the changes made
7) please dont change anything between { }

To omit the calendar
1) go to index.php file
2) Look for include "calendar.php";
3 comment it out as per below using //
eg :
// "calendar.php";

What if you already had a website built but it's heavily nested with tables already and it wouldn't be feasible to cut it up and put the bit's and pieces in the .tpl files.

I tried just making the file itself a .tpl file and copy pasting the relevent bits into it where I wanted 'em to go and then updating the index.php file to only parse that file instead of all four, but it didn't work. I really don't have a clue about these things, as you can probably tell. If you could point me in the right direction though it would be most appriciated.

Thanks for your time.

it's a bit tricky here .. pending on how complicated is your original site. It's as good as come out with a whole new template skin.

Its very difficult to guide you unless I know what you want to do this mybloggie & your original site.

If it's not a problem for you to give me some example for me to understand.

This 2 tutorials will help your to understand better how to work on your customisation.

Sure this is the site I already had, but removed the old text and replaced images that will reflect the blog change.

http://www.wolfishdesigns.co.uk/original.htm

The only thing you can't really see is the way the tables are are but you can imagine I guess. There's none of the code in there, every time I try and put it in the tables go screwy like jumping two to three columns over even just putting something like the subject of a message in to test and that black space get's bigger.

Those I'm sure are just table problems and with enough work I'm sure I'll figure that part out, but when I make that whole thing a .tpl and try to parse it regardless of table irregularities it doesn't show the test message.

Thanks for those links I'll take a look at them, but right now they have sql errors.

It's okay, I went another route, far less options but does what you generally need, thanks for the assistance, it just woulda been far too outta my meager coding means.

I have a similar question. what i would like to do is only use 4 of the newest post to show up inside my existing website... (this will only be for regular visitors to my site) I have tried writing a script to connect to the database but this will not show up anything... also i want to have another page only show the archive of the blogs. while able to click in and read them of course... while still leaving the main part of the site intact and the way you made it for my close friends to be able to leave personal comments. can you help with this?

You can use & modify the archive.php file

myBloggie have the capability you stated it's just a matter what you want it & how you tweak it...

I'd like to echo what was said above. Kudos to all those who worked on mybloggie.

I downloaded, installed and got everything working with no problem. I adjusted the CSS and got a bunch of pretty colors. Now time for the fun part... getting this thing integrated with my old website.

What i am working on. http://ninjanate.com/test
My old website. http://ninjanate.com/old

I've been playing with CSS and PHP for a while. I know more than enough to be dangerous. Mr. Green

As you can see with my old website, i had three columns going on. My links, my center/blog section and my antivirus lookup. I'd like to do the same thing with mybloggie. Put the calendar on the left side and add my antivirus lookup to the right side.

Config.php lets you choose which side you want the menu on. Index.php lets you choose what order you want the menu. Is there a simple way to add another column to my blog without recoding everything?

Thanks,
Nate

People, look at my page: http://ruffian.id.lv I like custimization my site, but i found that i couldn't customize the way the comments are displayed. They need to be more diffrent in colors. I think, they have to be in tables (on some posts i got more than 60 comments and they all look similar), but i don't know how to do that. Is there any tutorial for that?

Hi Sean,
I understand where the .tpl pages go. What i want to do create a menu on both the left hand and right hand side.

In HTML terms.

<TABLE>
<TR>
<TD>blog_header.tpl</TD>
</TR>

<TR>
<TD>sidevert.tpl</TD>
<TD>Blog_body.tpl</TD>
<TD>custom_menu.tpl</TD>
</TR>

<TR><TD>footer.tpl</TD></TR>
</TABLE>

Code:
--------------------------------------------------------
                     blog_header.tpl
-------------------------------------------------------
index.php  |                                 | 2nd custom menu
side menu  |                                 |  (right side)
content    |             Blog_body.tpl       |
using      |                                 |
include    |                                 |
           |<----------sidevert.tpl
------------------------------------------------------
                 footer.tpl
