Hi, I was almost able to answer my own question (it's similiar to this). What I am trying to do is insert an 'xpoll' poll into the side bar of mybloggie, and I'm pretty sure you do that by editing the index.php include statements...but my problem is that the xpoll is not in the root directory. So my question is how do I code the include line so it includes the 'polls.php' which is located in a subdirectory (subdirectory is called xpoll).
Taken from the userguide for xpoll:
Quote:
To INCLUDE INTO YOUR WEBSITE:

* Add the following line to the VERY top of your webpage:
<?php include ("top.php"); ?>
Where the path to top.php is correct.

* Add the following line to where you want your poll to be on your webpage:
<?php include ("polls.php"); ?>
Where the path to polls.php is correct.

p.s. if there is an easier poll script that you think I should be using to integrate into the sidebar of mybloggie, please let me know.
Thanks.

Using include in the right method but the trick part is the part.

assuming directory is xpoll & mybloggie is reside at
When using use include in index.php in

include ('./xpoll/poll.php');

it's assuming that poll.php is residing at bloggie directory where as rest of the xpoll script refered by poll.php is in xpoll directory. complicated ??

to ensure if its ok & debug the script to provide the right path..run it & correct the path in the script all the xpoll script accordingly.

Ican only give a general guideline as I'm not familar with xpoll

Thanks Sean,
It looks like it worked, except it's not displaying the poll's. It's wierd, because if you navigate to the directory from a browser, it uses index.php, but if you are integrating it into a webpage you must use polls.php. I think it does not work because of

I don't know where that should go, it causes errors if I place it in index.php
In the end, it does not matter, because I have decided to try some other polling script's to see if they work. Hopefully their set up will be less complicated. Thanks for trying.

I ended up going with 'nx5poll' script. That integrated nicely into the sidebar from the include statement of index.php.
